Our Assessments

Each psychological assessment at Neurospa Psychology is individually tailored to the presenting concerns, clinical referral question, and the unique needs of the individual being assessed — ensuring findings are relevant, meaningful, and clinically useful.

Psycho-Educational Assessments

Psychoeducational assessments evaluate intellectual functioning and academic achievement to identify specific learning disorders, including dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia. By measuring the gap between cognitive ability and academic performance, these assessments provide the clinical evidence needed to support appropriate intervention, school accommodations, and NDIS access.

For children, the assessment incorporates collateral information from parents and teachers to capture functioning across home and school environments. For adults, the process includes validated ADHD rating scales and a structured clinical interview — together forming a thorough and evidence-based diagnostic evaluation.

Autism Assessments

Comprehensive autism spectrum disorder (ASD) assessments conducted by a registered psychologist and speech pathologist working collaboratively. Using gold-standard diagnostic tools and a neuro-affirming, strengths-based framework, assessments evaluate differences in social communication, sensory processing, and adaptive behaviour. A formal ASD diagnosis provides the clinical documentation required to support NDIS applications, school accommodations, and workplace adjustments.

Intellectual Functioning (IQ) Assessments

intellectual functioning (iq) assessments

Comprehensive intellectual functioning assessments that measure core cognitive domains — including working memory, verbal comprehension, fluid reasoning, and processing speed — to build a detailed cognitive profile. These assessments are commonly used to inform school placement decisions, gifted programme referrals, and intellectual disability evaluations, providing the clinical documentation required for educational planning and access to appropriate support services.

Which psychological assessment is right for you?

If you are unsure which assessment to book, the best starting point is the main concern you want the report to answer. Neurospa Psychology can help clarify whether the most suitable pathway is an ADHD assessment, autism assessment, psychoeducational assessment, IQ/cognitive assessment, or NDIS-related psychological assessment support.

If more than one pathway seems relevant, you can contact Neurospa Psychology before booking so the clinic can help you choose the assessment most aligned with your goals.

What to prepare before booking an assessment

Before booking, it can be helpful to gather any relevant school reports, previous assessment reports, GP or specialist letters, NDIS plan information, teacher observations, workplace concerns, or examples of the difficulties you want assessed. You do not need to have every document ready before contacting the clinic, but sharing relevant background information can help Neurospa Psychology recommend the most appropriate assessment pathway.

For clients who may also benefit from ongoing psychological support, Neurospa Psychology also provides therapy services in Adelaide alongside assessment services.
